We had a marvelous time on what they call the Emerald Coast of Florida. We were in a bit of the middle-of-nowhere, but in a marvelous beach community where The Truman Show was filmed. This isn't the first time we've come across a uptopian community in the middle of nowhere. This place was money. Gilded fancy pants houses with their magazine styled interiors and stoic, cean landscapes. Maybe one day...
We're headed to Fernandina Beach today, we have about a 5 hour drive, and we have tomorrow off! It's great having a day off in Florida. Just even sitting outside and letting the warm sun soak into your face is pretty magical. I wish the warm sun could soak into my right calf muscle and de-knot it, but that's probably asking too much.
There are four people in the car... and there are four perspectives on how our day is going. We all slept in similar beds, had the same schedule, and yet it really is a choice whether to enjoy the process of traveling, or not. I forget to be grateful sometimes, but walking around in the gas station parking of some podunk town in Florida I realized that the sun was warm, and graciously shining down on me. It felt good, and if I could take a moment and appreciate that, my muscles would relax a little bit, and I could enjoy it. Mindfulness is something I'm working on, and while you can't be mindful 100% of the time, I'm trying to make my mindfulness count. I think we all need that time in the shower to zone out, or that time spent day dreaming out the window. Part of 2016 is being in it when necessary, but also to know when to release and daydream and feed my imagination.
We're making good time... only 3.5 hours left in the drive! Straight to soundcheck, then a quick break and then our show. #herewego
